Your Trusted Basketball Court Contractors

Basketball court flooring is the foundation of a safe, durable, and high-performing playing surface. The right flooring helps provide consistent ball response, player traction, smooth movement and reliable performance throughout the life of the court. We provide complete basketball court installation for residential, schools, parks, recreational and sports facilities with systems suited to different court conditions and levels of use. From new court construction to surfacing & resurfacing, we help you select and install the right flooring system based on your surface, location, usage and performance needs.

Basketball Court Construction: Concrete vs. Asphalt Base

The long-term playability of your court depends entirely on the stability of the foundation buried underneath the color coats. Our Construction crews specialize exclusively in building and preparing the two industry-standard bases, sealing both with high-performance, 100% pure acrylic basketball court surface coatings:

Asphalt for Basketball Court

For asphalt basketball court construction, we start with a properly graded and compacted aggregate sub-base before placing the asphalt layers. We use dense hot-mix asphalt and compact each layer to create a smooth, stable foundation for the acrylic basketball court system. The asphalt base is built with the finished court in mind. We establish the required slope for water runoff, compact the aggregate thoroughly, and make sure the asphalt surface is smooth and uniform before moving to acrylic surfacing. Because asphalt has natural flexibility, it can also be a practical foundation for outdoor courts exposed to changing temperatures.

The main benefits of a Asphalt Base Include:

  • Flexible Base: Gives flexibility under changing outdoor temperatures.

  • Solid Sub-Base: The compact layer gives the asphalt a firm foundation.

  • Smooth Surface: Create a uniform surface for acrylic surfacing.

  • Proper Water Flow: Move surface water away from the playing area.

  • Efficient Build: Helps moves through the foundation stage.

  • Acrylic-Ready: We prepare asphalt surface before applying the acrylic system.

Concrete Slab for Basketball Court

The concrete slab is more than just the surface underneath the acrylic. We build the court foundation in layers, starting with the prepared and fully compacted ground and aggregate sub-base. We then install the heavy-duty steel rebar grid and pour a 4–5 inch slab of 4,000 PSI structural concrete over the prepared aggregate. Once the concrete is properly cured, we prepare the surface for the acrylic system, including the required moisture control and bonding preparation. This step-by-step construction gives us a solid, consistent foundation for the finished basketball court base.

The main benefits of a concrete basketball court include:

  • Stable Base: Gives the entire court a rigid foundation.

  • Better Finish: Provides a consistent surface for acrylic surfacing.

  • Equipment Support: Creates a solid foundation for court equipment.

  • Less Surface Movement: Reduces movement beneath the playing surface.

  • Site-Specific Construction: Allows the foundation to match site conditions.

  • Ready for Surfacing: Provides the base for acrylic, colors and game lines.

Acrylic Basketball Court Surfacing

Acrylic coating is one of the durable, smooth coating system applied over a properly prepared asphalt or concrete base we build the acrylic flooring in layers rather than treating it like a simple paint application. We first inspect and prepare the base, correct surface irregularities, and apply the required acrylic resurfacer before building the playing surface with the specified color and texture coats

How We Install the Acrylic Flooring

1. Base Inspection & Preparation
We check the concrete or asphalt for surface irregularities, low areas, and conditions that could affect the finished acrylic system. The base is cleaned and prepared before coating begins.

2. Acrylic Resurfacer
We apply the acrylic resurfacer to fill minor surface imperfections and create a more uniform substrate for the subsequent acrylic layers.

3. Acrylic Color Coats
We apply the specified acrylic color coats across the playing area and surrounding zones. Multiple colors can be used to define the court layout and create the desired finish.

4. Texture & Traction
Where specified by the court system, silica sand is incorporated into the acrylic layers to create the surface texture needed for player traction.

5. Basketball Court Line Marking
After the surface has been completed, we measure and lay out the basketball markings before applying the court lines for a clean, accurate finish.

Benefits of Acrylic Basketball Court Flooring

  • Texture & Traction

Court surfacing provides a consistent surface texture that supports grip during starts, stops and changes of direction.

  • Smooth Movement

A uniform playing surface helps players move smoothly across the court during running, cutting, and defensive movements.

  • Ball Response

A consistent surface helps provide predictable ball interaction during dribbling, passing, shooting, and rebounding.

  • Surface Consistency

A properly prepared floor creates a uniform playing surface across the court, helping maintain a consistent feel throughout the playing area.

  • All-Weather Resilience

UV-resistant outdoor basketball court surface coatings that resist fading, peeling, and thermal cracking.

Our Basketball Court Installation Process

We bring heavy machinery, expert operators, and precision liquid application technicians directly to your property across the USA. We manage every single phase of the build:

  • Phase 1: Site Preparation

We clear and excavate the court area, remove unsuitable material, grade the site, and compact the subgrade before installing the aggregate foundation. We also establish the required slope so surface water can move away from the playing area.

  • Phase 2: Build the Structural Base

Depending on the project, we build the court over either a 4–5 inch, 4,000 PSI steel-reinforced concrete slab or a properly compacted hot-mix asphalt base. The base material is selected according to the site, project requirements, and planned court system.

  • Phase 3: Prepare the Playing Surface

Before applying the acrylic system, we inspect the base for low areas, surface irregularities, and other conditions that could affect the finished court. We correct the surface where needed so the acrylic layers have a properly prepared substrate.

  • Phase 4: Install the Acrylic System

We apply the acrylic surfacer to prepare and smooth the base, followed by the specified acrylic color and finish coats. Silica sand can be incorporated into the appropriate layers to provide the texture and traction required for outdoor play.

  • Phase 5: Complete the Court

Once the playing surface is finished, we install the selected basketball equipment and other court components. We then lay out and paint the basketball markings to complete the playing area.

How Much Does a Basketball Court Cost to Build?

The total financial investment is determined by three core variables: the amount of heavy site excavation required, the total court square footage, and your chosen acrylic performance tier.

Project Profile Average Dimensions Comprehensive Structural Inclusions Total Estimated Turnkey Investment
Backyard Shooting Key 20' × 25' Site clearing, minor leveling, 4" concrete pad, 3-layer hardcourt acrylic, single hoop installation $12,000 – $18,000
Standard Half-Court Build 30' × 30' to 30' × 50' Heavy grading, sub-base compaction, reinforced pavement foundation, 4-layer premium acrylic finish, line striping $19,000 – $38,000
Official NCAA / HS Full Court 50' × 84' to 50' × 94' Complete civil excavation, perimeter drainage trenches, thick asphalt or concrete paving, 4-layer dual-tone acrylic, dual hoop anchoring $58,000 – $95,000+
Pavement Surfacing Only Variable Acid-etching, primer coat, bird-bath patch binder leveling, multi-layer color coats for pre-existing, sound pavement pads $3.50 – $6.55 / Sq. Ft.

*Estimated costs are planning ranges. Actual project pricing can vary based on site conditions, court dimensions, excavation requirements, materials, accessibility, drainage, and selected specifications.

Basketball Court Resurfacing

Restore Your Existing Basketball Court

Your court may be ready for resurfacing when the surface looks worn, feels rough, has lost its original color, or no longer provides the playing experience it once did. Resurfacing is best considered when the underlying court is still structurally sound solid. We start by evaluating the existing court to determine whether resurfacing is the right solution. From there, we clean and prepare the surface, address appropriate cracks and imperfections, apply the required resurfacing layers, and finish the court with fresh colors and game lines. The process is tailored to the existing surface rather than treating every court the same way.
